The U.S. U18 Men’s National Team just wrapped up an event to forget in Mexico.
The U.S. took part in Copa Chivas against a number of international club teams. The U.S. finished 1-2-1 in group play with the lone win coming in the opener against Morelia (Mexico) thanks to a goal from Chicago Fire defender Mauricio Pineda. The U.S. lost to Universidad Catolica (Chile) and Cruzeiro (Brazil). The youth national team managed a draw against Club Tijuana (Mexico).
Beyond the results, this tournament was meaningful for the players as the planning for the 2017 U20 World Cup starts to take shape in the coming months. There were some players who did well at the tournament and others who did not quite live up to expectations.
