Today we unveil our latest update to TeamRank, the comprehensive ranking system for elite club soccer teams nationwide. Today we release an update for U13, U14 and U15 Girls. Next week, we will update the younger age groups on the boys’ side. We will update our National Top 50 of each age group at least once per month.

Southern California club Legends FC 99 moves into the #1 spot this month due to its unblemished record in Southern California Developmental Soccer League play (7-0-0). Legends has had a good fall that started with a semifinal finish at Surf Cup, losing to eventual champion and current #10 Manteca FC Newcastle, and continued with a championship run at the So Cal Blues Cup, defeating #2 SoCal Blues Rennie/Bobak in the final. SoCal Blues remains in second this month, and currently leads the SoCal Developmental SL’s Flight 1 South division with an undefeated record of 5-0-1.
Solar Red 00 sits in second place in the Lake Highlands Girls Classic League standings, and therefore falls from #1 to #3 in our standings this month. Solar recently suffered a close 1-0 defeat in league play to #13 Liverpool FC America, the league’s top team. Michigan Hawks remain in the top 5 this month (at #4) and have already claimed two tournament championships this fall, defeating #6 World Class FC 99 Patino 3-2 in the final of the Eclipse Select Challenge Cup.
Rounding out the top 5 is Cincinnati United Premier Crew Juniors Gold, Mead Cup champions and currently undefeated in The Premiere League.
When the top two teams in our standings meet each other in league play, one kind of has to give the nod to the winner of the match, all else being equal. #1 De Anza Force Blue 98 takes over the top spot in our rankings this month, after beating #2 West Coast FC 1-0 in an ECNL cross-conference match up. De Anza Force and West Coast were highlighted in separate articles earlier this month, and both coaches discusses the importance of technical ability, so it’s only fitting that the match was a tight one.
The rest of the top 5 remains unchanged in this update. #3 PDA O’Reilly, #4 San Diego Surf, and #5 Michigan Hawks are the last teams in the ECNL with unblemished records. PDA and Michigan Hawks have already defeated their closest conference competitors, while Surf faces a roadblock to its record on November 11 when they will challenge for the SoCal conference lead against #2 West Coast FC.
PDA becomes our new #1 without having played a match in ECNL competition thus far. The ECNL’s Northeast Conference doesn’t begin play until December, but PDA’s record as the conference winner at U14 and the reigning ECNL national semifinalist allows us to attempt to predict the future for 2012-13. Previously top-ranked San Diego Surf ECNL falls to #2 after suffering a “stinging” 5-1 loss to #9 Dallas Sting 98 at the Phoenix Showcase. Surf, however, remains undefeated in the SoCal Conference with a 4-0-0 record.
The rest of the top 5 remains unchanged, with Crossfire Premier at #3, Real Colorado at #4, and Mustang SC at #5. Crossfire is idle until December, while Real Colorado tops the Mountain West Conference with a 5-0 record (6-1-1 overall), and Mustang leads the Northwest Conference and is overall undefeated, with their only blemish so far a 0-0 draw with Arsenal FC in Phoenix.
Next Thursday: U13, U14, and U15 Boys
TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.
The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.
Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.
A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
