The U.S. U17 MNT is in action starting on February 10 as the Concacaf World Cup qualifying takes place.
A new format sees the United States play three group games, needing to come in first to be one of the eight teams from Concacaf to play at this year’s U17 World Cup.
It also means that it’s an opportunity to get a look at some of the top U.S. prospects born in 2008. And while success at this age group is no clear indicator of future success, it’s a chance to evaluate where some of these players are in their respective development.
Set to play against the U.S. Virgin Islands, St Kitts & Nevis and Cuba, it’s not going to be a high-level test. Not all of the best players born in 2008 are at the competition, with Julian Hall, Ian James and Nimfasha Berchimas among the MLS-based players not to get a call.
When looking at the roster that head coach Gonzalo Segares did name, here are five of the best.
