The U.S. Under-16 Men’s Youth National Team will head to Buenos Aires, Argentina for a training camp from May 22-30 with matches against Uruguay on May 27 and Argentina on May 30. Both games will be played at the AFA National Training Center.
Gonzalo Segares has selected 20 players for the training camp as this age group will transition to become the U-17 MYNT later this year and attempt to qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar at the 2025 Concacaf U-17 Championship.
Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2008 are age-eligible for this one-year U-16 MYNT cycle and 19 of 20 players called to camp were born in 2008. Forward Mathis Albert is the lone player born in 2009. Next year’s Concacaf U-17 Championship and FIFA U-17 World Cup will feature players born on or after Jan. 1, 2008.
The roster features players from 11 Major League Soccer clubs, led by three from Real Salt Lake and two each from Chicago Fire FC, LAFC, LA Galaxy, New York City FC and Sporting Kansas City.
Ten players represented the U.S. at the 2023 Concacaf Boys’ U-15 Championship in the Dominican Republic, helping the USA take home its first title in three appearances at the tournament.
