U17 Standouts from 2016 AIFF Youth Cup
The U.S. U17 Men’s National Team finished second at the 2016 AIFF Youth Cup after losing in extra time in the championship game against Korea Republic. Despite the sour ending note, the U.S. had bursts of impressive play from the event in Goa, India.
John Hackworth, the U.S. U17 MNT head coach, called in 23 players to the tournament and used it as a platform to get a look at the group and see where he can improve the roster as the team aims to qualify for the 2017 U17 World Cup in India. The compressed nature of this event allowed Hackworth and his coaching staff to assess all of the options on the roster, which gave the players time to showcase their skills in front of the coaches during international games.
Which players helped their case for a spot on the U17 MNT roster going forward? TopDrawerSoccer assesses the standouts from the event.
