The U.S. Under-15 BNT continued its perfect run at the Concacaf Championship, beating Guatemala by a 4-1 score in a quarterfinal on Wednesday.
An Isaac Tortola goal broke a 0-0 deadlock just before the half, as Guatemala was seconds away from keeping the U.S. off the board for the game’s first 35 minutes. Jude Terry collected a clearance in stoppage time, squaring the ball to Tortola, who unleashed a shot from 30 yards out to put the U.S. up a goal.
Prior to that, it had been a closely contested first half, as Guatemala did well to deal with the U.S. threat and caused plenty of problems. The Central American side had a few good chances to grab the first goal but were unable to get a shot on target.
The goal worked wonders for the U.S., which took control in the second half. Cavan Sullivan extended the lead in the 48th minute from the penalty spot. Marvin Avila hit right back for Guatemala just one minute later.
Goals from Adrian Sanders off a corner kick and a Chase Adams penalty made it a comfortable win for the U.S. at the final whistle.
Semifinals for the U15 Championship are set for Friday.
U.S. Starting Lineup: Will McKay; Juan Villa, Adrian Sanders, Ramiz Hamouda, Miguel Alvarado; Jude Terry, Cavan Sullivan, Isaac Tortola; Julian Hall, Omar Marquez, Jamir Johnson
