U.S. U17 MNT beats Faroe Islands 4-0
The U.S. U17 Men’s National Team completed group-play at the 2014 Open Nordic Tournament on Thursday with a 4-0 win over Faroe Islands. Kai Koreniuk, Orrin Gaines, Eric Matzelevich, and an own goal helped U.S. to the shutout victory.
The U.S. closes out the event on Saturday in the fifth place game against Finland.
The victory on Thursday was the first for the U.S. from Denmark, as the youth national team dropped its first two games against the host nation and Norway.

While one group closes out competition in Denmark, head coach Richie Williams and four players (Elijah Rice, William Pulisic, Edwin Lara, and Gaines) are scheduled to join the other U.S. U17 MNT in Mexico City for its opening game from the Copa Mexico de Naciones on Saturday. U.S. plays China PR in the opener there.
