US Youth National Finals Standouts: July 23
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The 2019 U.S. Youth Soccer National Finals kicked off Tuesday morning, with the opening round of matches starting at Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex in Kansas.
TopDrawerSoccer was on hand for a few games in the U17 Boys bracket as well as a couple games from U18 Girls.
The day started off with Group A, where a 3-2 win for Solar 02 Castro over Baltimore Celtic in a game that was rerouted after Celtic were reduced to ten men due to a red card to the Baltimore keeper following his red card. A couple late goals was enough for Solar to secure their first win of the tournament in dramatic fashion with two goals in stoppage time.
In a back-and-forth matchup, Washington Premier 2002 Black and Coral Estates Strikers Blue played out to a 2-2 draw with a goal from Washington late to split the points to finish Group A from matchday one.
Another draw between Michigan Jaguars 02 Green and Arlington SA 2002 Red finished 1-1 following a brilliant display of goalkeeping on both ends to start Group B.
The final U17 boys match covered today was a 1-0 win for OK Energy Central 02 over Santa Clara Sporting 02 Green from Group B.
In the Girls U18 opening matches, a 0-0 draw between Celtic FC Premier JR and 01 Lady Lobos Rush Premier to start Group A.
Premier Navy converted a late penalty to split points with La Roca PO to finish U18 Girls Group B.
