US Youth National Finals Standouts: July 25
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Thursday was the final day for group stage matches at the 2019 United States Youth Soccer Finals, which meant the end of the road for some and a chance to fight another day for others.
TopDrawerSoccer was on hand for matches from the following age groups: U15 Girls, U16 Boys, U16 Girls, U19 Boys and U15 Boys.
The day started with two matches from U15 Girls, with SC Waukesha 04 Blue beating Sporting St. Louis Red Devils 2004 by a score of 3-0. FC Revolution Dynamo did the same with a 3-0 victory over Utah Celtic FC. Both of the winners advance to Saturday’s semifinals.
The next round of matches were from the U16 Boys, where Baltimore Celtic Premier’s comeback was enough to leave this tournament with a point, as FC Dallas marches on as group winners. Syracuse Developmental Academy 3-1 win over SLSG 2003 Elite meant that Syracuse advances to the semifinals as well.
The final matchup of the morning was U16 Girls, where a first half wonder-strike from Jacey Farmer was enough to give them their only win of the tournament following two draws as Arsenal Colorado Academy heads home with three losses. On the other side of the bracket, Legends IE took home first place in their group following a second half thriller in which all six goals were scored, with Legends scoring four while Sunrise Sting 2003 X1 managed to score twice.
Rounding off the group stage, the afternoon games were started with Kingdom SC 00 Red just barely hanging on for the 4-3 win over Lehigh Valley United 2000 Black. Despite this, Lehigh finish in first place. McLean Hotspur and LMSC played out to a 2-2 draw. LMSC go through as group runners up.
Downtown LVSC 04 Gold marched out as group champions following a win on penalties over PA Dominion 04 after scoreless regulation soccer. Both teams will represent group B in the semifinals. Raiders FC defeated Oklahoma Energy FC 04 by a scoreline of 5-2.
