The winter months have led to a slowdown in the MLS NEXT schedule in some corners of the country.
For the colder parts of the country, the stop is an apt juncture for players to switch clubs. As MLS Academies continue to place an emphasis on bringing players from around the country, several talented young prospects have made the decision to move.
Here are some of the top players who have moved clubs over the past month.
Connor Dale, Inter Miami → FC Cincinnati (2010)
The U.S. youth national team goalkeeper is one of the biggest names to have switched clubs. He joined up with the FCC first team in preseason, quite the feat for his age.
Luka Vukelic, Sockers FC → Austin FC (2010)
A talented attacking player from the Chicagoland power, Vukelic offers creativity and craft to Sockers. That should be beneficial for the Under-17 age group in Texas, adding further punch in the final third.
Antoni James, Beadling SC → Orlando City (2010)
The West Pennsylvania standout is a talented center back prospect with good ability on the ball and high-level athleticism. The new environment and training sessions should push his game further.
Joshua Boney, Barca Residency Academy → FC Cincinnati (2010)
One of the best wingers from the age group, Boney is originally from the Atlanta area. Now on the move again, it’s likely that some kind of arrangement has been set up to transfer the Homegrown rights to FCC. He’s one to keep an eye on going forward.
Mario Luca Santilli, RSL Arizona → LA Galaxy (2011)
The striker from Arizona has shifted to LA, joining the Galaxy youth setup.
Quincy Lamar, Chula Vista FC → FC Dallas (2011)
A talented No. 9 with excellent physical tools, he should play up an age group once he officially joins up with FCD.
