#1 Rangers Keep Top Spot on NSCAA National Coaches Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan.: Regis University men's soccer ranked #1 for the second consecutive week this Tuesday. They remain first in the NSCAA South Central Poll this week as well.
After two big victories this weekend, the Rangers improved to 11-0 in the RMAC and 13-0-1 overall.
On Friday, Regis took on defending national champions Fort Lewis College, defeating the Skyhawks 5-2. Senior Alex Tarnoczi and sophomore Martin Maybin netted two goals apiece, while sophomore Adam Tormoehlen also put one through for the Rangers.
The Rangers dropped Colorado Mesa University 4-1 last Sunday. Senior Stephen Reed, juniors Justin Ortinau and Garrett Seitz and Maybin each scored one goal throughout the match.
As a team, the Rangers rank second in the nation in scoring offense with 3.71 goals per game and 52 total goals. The team ranks third with 139 total points and seventh 35 total assists.
Maybin ranks eighth in the nation with 2.23 points and 0.92 goals per game. He ranks 11th with 12 total goals and 13th with 29 total points.
Senior Alex Tarnoczi and sophomore Logan Miller also rank top 50 in points per game, total points, goals per game and total goals.
Junior Justin Ortinau ranks 18th in the nation with seven total assists and 19th with 0.50 assists per game.
The Rangers face the Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines today, October 23 at 3:00 PM. This weekend, the team will travel to Alamosa, Colo. to take on Adams State College on Friday and then to Durango, Colo. to challenge Fort Lewis College at their place on Sunday.
