October 15, 2019
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 23rd-ranked NC State men’s soccer team (7-3-2) outshot South Carolina (5-6-2) by a 15-5 margin on Tuesday evening, but ultimately played to a 0-0 draw in double overtime against the Gamecocks inside Stone Stadium.
NC State nearly won the match in the 101st minute when Pepe Garcia collected a cross and hit a shot on target from very close range. South Carolina goalkeeper Nick Brady dove to make one of his six saves of the evening, denying the Wolfpack a potential match-winning goal that the game officials ruled did not cross the line.
David Loera led the Wolfpack with three shots on the evening, while five of his teammates chipped in two apiece. In total, eight NC State student-athletes recorded at least one shot during the course of the match. Goalkeeper Vincent Durand made one important save to preserve his fifth shutout of the season.
