Adlephi Dropped By Southern Connecticut, 3-0

New Haven, CT - The men's soccer team closed out their 2013 regular season with a 3-0 loss at Southern Connecticut State earlier this evening. The Panthers held the hosts scoreless through the first, but did not have an answer for the three scores in the second. With the loss, Adelphi moves to 10-6, 9-4 NE-10 and will now look forward to the Northeast-10 Tournament.
The Brown and Gold played the Owls fairly even in through the end of the first frame, taking two more shots (6-4) and having an even amount of corners (2-2). Three of their attempts were on the mark but were all met by saves from Southern keeper, Stephen Sasso.
In the second, the hosts ripped off three goals evenly spread out through the half. The first two came off the foot of Mads Larsen with assists coming from Kevin Joslyn and Daquan King. The final goal was scored by Sebastian Brems on an unassisted play in the 83rd.
Juan Aguiar accounted for three of the Panther's shots while Alejandro Penzini, Diego Zuniga and Caelan Hueber all registered two. TJ Butler and Nicholas Costa had one shooting attempt to cap the 11 total shots for Adelphi. Ahmad Salamah made four saves and suffered his first loss since September 28.

The Panthers will wait to see what seed they are awareded in the NE-10 Tournament. Currently, they are third behind only Southern New Hampshire and Merrmiack. The first round of post season play will be on Tuesday, November 5 at the higher seed.
