Army Returns Home To Face Marist
WEST POINT, N.Y. – After topping Air Force in Colorado Springs on Saturday, the Army men’s soccer team will be back at Clinton Field to host Marist on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m.
The match will be video streamed live on Knight Vision, the Black Knights’ subscription-based multimedia platform available through Army’s official website (www.goARMYsports.com). Live stats will also be available through GameTracker and in-game Twitter updates will be offered via the men’s soccer team’s official handle (@Army_MSoccer).
Army (3-0-0) is off to its best start since 2007, when it opened the season with four consecutive wins.
Freshman forward Nick Williams leads the Black Knights with two goals and four points in three matches, while junior back Sean Mogan and sophomore midfielder Nick Baietti each have a goal and an assist. Senior midfielder Jason Lewis and freshman forward Ethan Spivack have each found the back of the net once this season, and junior goalkeeper Winston Boldt has made 10 saves without conceding a goal.
A pair of Black Knights earned Patriot League nods this week, as Boldt was named Goalkeeper of the Week for the second week in a row, and Spivack claimed Rookie of the Week honors. Boldt made four saves in each of Army’s two wins last week, a 2-0 victory over Manhattan and a 1-0 win at Air Force, while Spivack tallied the game winner against the Falcons.
Marist (0-3-0) will look to end its three-game skid to start the season when it travels to West Point. Senior goalkeeper Anthony Sokalski has 17 saves and a 2.00 goals against average through his first three starts in net.
Army and Marist will go head-to-head for the 16th time on Wednesday, with the Red Foxes leading the all-time series 11-3-1. The teams last squared off in 2011, when Marist upended Army, 6-4, at West Point.
Following Wednesday’s action, the Black Knights will wrap up their two-game home stand and host Fordham on Saturday, Sept. 14. Army and Fordham last played in 2006, when the Rams earned a 3-1 victory.
