CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - After 95 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Dartmouth men's soccer team found itself on the wrong end of a 1-0 overtime contest at Boston College on Wednesday (Oct. 10). The loss was Dartmouth's third overtime loss this season.

Boston College (7-3-2) ended the 0-0 deadlock just four minutes into the overtime session. After a Dartmouth foul, Eagle midfielder Kyle Bekker headed the ball past goalkeeper Noah Cohen (Johannesburg, South Africa) to end the game.  Jason Abbot was credited with the assist.

Dartmouth (5-6-0) recorded 11 shots but only three of them were on goal although Boston College was in a similar situation with just five shots on goal. The Big Green spread the offense out with eight different players recording shots while Cohen made four saves in the contest.

The Big Green looked like they might get on the board with a shot from Eric Jayne (Hanover, N.H.) in the 73rd minute but Boston College goalkeeper, Justin Luthy made the save.

The Eagles, who took more shots in the second half, tried to end the game in regulation with two shots in the final two minutes of action. Abbot had a shot saved at the 88:12 mark and Bekker, who had the eventual game-winner, had a shot blocked in the 90th minute.

The game was a very evenly played match throughout as both teams battled each other and the weather. Both teams had scoring opportunities early, but it was the Eagles that forced the first save of the night.

Abbot teed up a shot at the 15:17 mark, forcing Cohen to make a save to keep the Eagles off the board.

Dartmouth settled in midway through the half and collected shots from Andoni Georgiou (London, England), Kevin Dzierzawski (Oakland Township, Mich.) and Colin Heffron (Upper Brookville, N.Y.).

Boston College had a chance just before the end of the half from Bekker but Cohen and the Dartmouth backline made the stop.

Dartmouth returns to Burnham Field on Saturday (Oct. 13) when they welcome Penn for an Ivy League contest. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
