Black and Gold turn in strong showing
NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Freshman forward Travis Richardson (Elizabethtown, Ky.) and senior forward Austin Finley (Kokomo, Ind.) each struck two shot attempts, leading Manchester University in a meeting with Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference leading Rose-Hulman Saturday, Oct. 18.
MU, falling to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in league play, gave their guests a strong test throughout a rain-soaked, cold and windy afternoon at the pitch on Spartan Field. Freshman goalkeeperJared Hallal (Indianapolis, Ind.) turned in four saves amidst a 17-7 shots disadvantage. With the exception of a five-minute span in the opening 15 minutes when Rose-Hulman tallied two goals en route to the 2-0 decision, the hosts managed to keep their net clean.
Richardson did force a save from visiting goalkeeper Drew Miller with one of his shot tries. Sophomore forward Ola Ladapo (London, England), freshman forward Nate Johnson (Portage, Ind.) and freshman midfielder Colin Singer(Columbus, Ind.) added to the Black and Gold shot list with one each.
Manchester University continues conference play Wednesday, Oct. 22, facing off against rival Anderson University. Kickoff is 3 p.m. at AU's Macholtz Stadium.
