Bradley Upsets #9 Notre Dame, 1-0
PEORIA, IL - The youngest team in the Missouri Valley Conference was unfazed by facing a nationally-ranked opponent in front of a large home crowd. With a roster that includes 18 true and redshirt freshmen, Bradley upset #9 Notre Dame, 1-0, in front of 1,821 fans Wednesday night in the eighth annual Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game at Shea Stadium.
Junior striker Richard Olson netted the game's lone goal, working the right flank on a Frank Bak through ball for the game-winning tally in the 75th minute.
Olson's goal was Bradley's lone shot on goal. Although Notre Dame finished with a 13-5 shots advantage, the Fighting Irish totalled just five shots on goal and senior keeper Logan Ketterer made all five saves for the clean sheet.
Playing just one preseason exhibition game, Bradley will open the 2016 campaign Aug. 26 by visiting Gonzaga. The Braves also will face San Diego State Aug. 28 in Spokane, WA, before officially opening the 2016 home schedule by hosting Fairleigh Dickinson, Utah Valley and Evansville in the Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic Sept. 2 and Sept. 4 at Shea Stadium.
