DAYTON IS FIRST TEAM TO SCORE ON LA SALLE THIS SEASON
PHILADELPHIA - No. 15 University of Dayton became the first team to score on La Salle, which, prior to the match, was the only NCAA D-I soccer team to not allow a single goal all season. But it wasn't enough as the Explorers scored two unanswered goals to win 2-1 in overtime at McCarthy Stadium.
La Salle remains unbeaten at 11-0-1, 3-0-0 Atlantic 10, while the Flyers suffered their second loss of the season and are now 10-2-0, 1-1-0 A-10.
Sophomore Stephanie Emery scored her first goal of the season off an assist from senior Kelsey Owen on sophomore Juliana Libertin's corner kick in the 75th minute to give Dayton the lead.
Renee Washington scored two unassisted goals for La Salle; the first on a penalty kick (handball in the box) to tie the match in the 81st minute and the second was the game winner from 30 yards out in overtime in the 92nd minute.
The loss is just UD's third to the Explorers; the Flyers lead the all-time series 16-3-0. Dayton is 27-4-2 in Atlantic 10 regular season games since the 2008 season.
The Flyers play Fordham this Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. ET.
