Emily Gerber Named to WIAC Centennial Team
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater senior Emily Gerber has been named to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Time Women's Soccer Team. The team recognizes the top players in the history of the league, as the WIAC celebrates its centennial.
Women's soccer became a varsity intercollegiate sport at UW-Whitewater in 1992, the same year the WIAC began sponsorship.
Gerber, with 2011 honors and awards yet to be announced, was named First Team All-WIAC in both 2009 and 2010, as well as earning the league's Player of the Year Award for both seasons. She is one of just two players chosen as the league's top player more than once.
Gerber, although not finished with her career, has etched her name in the record books. In the UW-Whitewater annals her 2009 season of 24 goals and 49 points are both number one, while the ten assists she has this season is tied for the top spot. She also holds the school career goals (55) and points (131) records, and second all-time in career assists (21). In the WIAC record book the 2009 season is tied for seventh in goals and tied for twelfth in points. Her career goals and points totals are tied for eighth and ninth, respectively, all-time in the WIAC.
Gerber has led the Warhawks to back-to-back WIAC titles, and this year into the school's first NCAA III postseason tournament.
