UNIONVILLE, Pa. -- Notre Dame picked up their 11th victory of the year Wednesday afternoon at Green Valley Park, defeating the Lions of Penn State Beaver (Pa.).
The Falcons netted 13 goals including six in the opening half as Notre Dame rolled to a dominating 13-1 victory.
Dean Miller buried two goals and added an assist in the opening 15 minutes to guarantee Notre Dame a strong performance.
After Miller replaced an injured Erik Beattie in the fourth minute, the Johannesburg, South Africa, native put the finishing touches to a Martin Lange assist -- his fifth of the season – in the sixth minute. The first year Falcon added his sixth goal -- in the 10th minute on Lange''s second assist. Then Miller became the giver in the 15th minute when he found Elliot Kelly. The Crowborough, England, sophomore buried the goal -- his first of the season.
Notre Dame would go on to score six first half goals on 29 shots, while Beaver had limited chances in its offensive end, managing just two shots on net in the first half. The Falcons would also hold a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks through the opening 45 minutes.
Miller would help NDC open the second half finding Cody Brown in the 53rd minute. Brown a sophomore from Parkersburg, W.Va., would put the finishing touch to Miller''s second assist for his first collegiate goal.
It would be Miller again on the giving end in the 63rd minute when he provided Carlo Manna''s first goal of 2011. The Sidney, Australia, native''s strike extended the Blue & White''s lead to 8-0 at the 63:09 mark.
Miller would conclude his career performance at the 66:42 mark when he smashed home an unassisted goal -- his seventh of the season.
The Falcons would go onto score three more times before DJ Kemerer received a ball from Desmond Amberetu. The Sewickley, Pa., native unleashed a rocket at the Notre Dame goal where it deflected past the outstretched arms of second half substitute Jan Skorupinski.
Notre Dame added a final marker in the 79th minute when Jacob Sheppard finished his second of the day -- his second of the season. Sheppard received a pointed pass from Philip Cutler and buried the strike past Peter Williams to make the final, 13-1.
The Blue & White poured on the pressure piling on 25 second half shots two corner kicks. For the game Notre Dame outshot the Lions 54-11 and led 6-1 in corner kicks.
Alex Klein and Jan Skorupinski combined to make four saves splitting time between the posts for NDC. Peter Williams went the distance making 20 saves in the loss for Beaver.
