FLYERS CELEBRATE SENIOR NIGHT WITH 3-0 WIN OVER SLU
DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's soccer team defeated Saint Louis 3-0 on senior night at Baujan Field.
The Flyers improve to 15-3 overall and 6-2 in Atlantic 10 and also earned a berth to the A-10 Championship that will be played at Baujan Field Nov. 3-6. Saint Louis falls to 5-9-3 overall and 3-4-1 in the A-10.
Though it was senior night, the Flyer freshmen stood out. Kelsey Smigel scored her ninth goal of the season in the 38th minute and fellow freshman Haley Keller scored in the 40th minute with an assist from senior Emily Kenyon; Keller's third goal and Kenyon's fourth assist of the year. Junior Colleen Williams scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season to give Dayton a 3-0 lead in the 59th minute off an assist from Juliana Libertin, her seventh assist of the year.
Sophomore Jordin Melchert was in goal for the Flyers and earned the win to improve to 5-0-0 this season. Dayton outshot Saint Louis 18-8 and had six cornerkicks to SLU's one.
Dayton hosts Charlotte in their final regular season game this Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. at Baujan Field. Admission is free to UD regular season games at Baujan Field.
