Four Named To College Sports Madness Team
Brooklyn Heights, New York---The staff at College Sports Madness has picked the top players in college soccer for the 2013 season and four St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers have made the list. The website has selected 2012 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year Kevin Correa (Flushing, New York/Flushing) as its Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Correa, along with senior forward Gabriel Bagot (Nevers, France/Edison Academic Center) each garnered an appearance on its Madness Northeast Conference 2013 Preseason All-Conference First Team.
In addition, a pair of Terrier defenders was selected to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-Northeast Conference Second Team as senior Riccardo Milano (Caracas, Venezuela/Colegio "Los Arcos") and junior Andy Cormack (Plymouth, England/Hele's School) made the cut.
A season ago, Correa led the Northeast Conference in nearly all statistical categories as he paced the league in points with 25, points per game at 1.39, goals scored with 11 and goals per game at .61. Nationally, Correa was ranked 25th in goals, while also placing in the Top-50 in goals per game, points and points per game. The Flushing native was also selected to the All-Northeast Conference First Team, his first overall selection.
Bagot, now a two-time College Sports Madness First Team choice, had a solid third season for the Terriers. After scoring a team-high eight goals in 2011, the Nevers, France product led the squad with six assists and netted five goals of his own. This past season, he matched his total from a season ago, tallying six multi-point games. Bagot currently stands 12th all-time in goals scored (16), 13th in points with 42 and is tied for 15th all-time in assists with 10 in St. Francis Brooklyn men's soccer history. The third-year forward was rewarded with an All-Northeast Conference Second Team selection.
Milano and Cormack are two-hard nose defenders who anchor a younger Terrier team this season in the backfield. Milano, a three-year member of the squad, has played in 33 career games, tallying a goal, two assists and four points while Cormack, a second-year player, appeared in and started in fourteen games last season. In Cormack's first game of his career, against the then ranked #4 University of Connecticut, he helped the St. Francis Brooklyn defense hold the Huskies off the scoreboard for the first forty-five minutes of the match.
St. Francis Brooklyn commences the 2013 season on the road, as they travel to Storrs, Connecticut to tangle with the #5 ranked UConn Huskies on August 30th. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 pm from Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
