<div class="newsarticle"> <p><em><strong>Duo defeats fellow incoming freshman Daniel Stanese of Whitecaps FC</strong></em></p> <p><strong>FORT MYERS, Fla. &ndash;</strong> Incoming freshmen <strong>Aaron Guillen (El Paso, Texas/Coronado HS)</strong> and <strong>David Robledo (Dallas, Texas/Hillcrest HS)</strong> will step on FGCU&rsquo;s campus as National Champions, as the duo helped FC Dallas defeat the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, 3-2, on Sunday night in the 2012 U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) U-17/18 Championship at BBVA Compass Stadium in Dallas, Texas.</p> <p>Guillen and Robledo both started the game for FC Dallas and squared off against future teammate <strong>Daniel Stanese (Pitt Meadows, British Columbia/Pitt Meadows Secondary)</strong> of the Whitecaps, who also started on defense.</p> <p>FC Dallas trailed 2-1 in the second half, but poured in two unanswered goals in the 69th and 84th minute, respectively, to avenge last year&rsquo;s loss in the title game and become the first MLS-affiliated club in the five-year history of the Academy to win the championship.</p> <p>Robledo turned in an active 89 minutes, serving as one of the primary weapons in the midfield that helped FC Dallas execute its methodical passing offense that helped lead to the three goals. Guillen, as usual, played all 90 minutes on defense and helped limit the potent Vancouver offense to no goals in the final 45+ minutes.</p> <p>Stanese also played all 90 minutes for the Whitecaps, as they advanced to the championship game in their first Development Academy season. Both teams advanced to the championship through group play. FC Dallas advance out of Group 2 with a 2-0-1 record for seven points that was highlighted by a must-win 3-2 victory over Solar Chelsea on Friday night. Guillen has started all three games in group play, while Robledo saw action in all three contests with one start. A second half sub against Baltimore, Robledo set up FC Dallas&rsquo; first goal in the 65th minute.</p> <p>Stanese was a mainstay in the starting lineup all season for the Whitecaps and has started all three games in the Final Eight leading up to the championship match. Vancouver advanced out of Group 1 with a 2-0-1 record, giving up a tournament-low four goals with the best goal differential (+5).</p> </div>
