Kiersten Turner '16 scored midway through the first half and Bowdoin College topped Hamilton College 1-0 in a NESCAC game at Hamilton’s Love Field on Oct. 13.

Molly Popolizio '14 was credited with an assist and Bridget McCarthy '16 made four saves for Bowdoin's shutout.

Liza Gergenti '14 made five stops for the Continentals (7-3-1 overall, 4-3-1 NESCAC). Alex Rimmer '13 and Hannah Withiam '16 took five shots apiece.

Turner notched her team-leading fifth goal in the 23rd minute. A free kick taken by Becky Krakora '14 was headed by a Hamilton player in the box and eventually found Popolizio. Her header was knocked away by Gergenti, but Turner collected the rebound and knocked the ball into the back of the net.

Hamilton took 10 more shots than the Polar Bears did in the second half, but couldn't even the score. The Continentals held an 18-7 shot advantage for the game and Bowdoin (9-2-0, 5-2) held a slight edge in corner kicks at 5-3.

Hamilton hosts Colby College for a NESCAC match on Sunday, Oct. 14. Bowdoin continues its road trip at Amherst College on Sunday.
