HOW IT HAPPENED
- Holy Cross struck first in the 14th minute when Ross sent a header off a corner kick by freshman Justin Carfora (Plainview, N.Y.) to the left corner of the net as the Crusaders took the 1-0 lead.
- Dartmouth evened the score at 1-1 in the 32nd minute when Gabe Stauber passed a free kick from 25 yards out to Gabe Hoffman-Johnson who kicked the ball 22 yards out from the left side. The ball landed out of the reach of junior goalie Kevin Wright (McKinney, Texas) and into the top right corner of the net.
- Carfora passed the ball to freshman Nicholas Cestaro (Massapequa, N.Y.), who sent a crossing pass to Rupp as he headed the ball from six yards out into the right side of the net to give Holy Cross the 2-1 lead in the 50th minute.
- Alnas scored off a rebound from 10 yards out from a shot by Alex Adelabu in the 75th minute to help Dartmouth tie the score at 2-2.
- Stefan Defregger shot twice within the 94th and 97th minutes, one landing on top of the net off the fingertips of Wright and the second saved on a diving stop.
- In the 108th minute the Crusaders were awarded a penalty kick. Junior Luke Melody (Mansfield, Conn.) shot the ball towards the lower left corner, but was quickly saved by Stefan Cleveland.
- With nine seconds remaining in the second overtime, Defregger shot a free kick from 25 yards out that was saved by Wright as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
KOOLMAN ON THE GAME: "I thought when we moved the ball well, we were successful," said Holy Cross head coach Marco Koolman, "Dartmouth threw a lot of layers at us, and a lot of athleticism. This game definitely will help to prepare us for what we're facing the next couple weeks. I thought it was an even game that warranted a tie."
