Fort Wayne, IN – The Indiana Tech men’s soccer team defeated the visiting Cougars of the University of St. Francis, 2-0 to repeat as winners of the annual Fort Wayne Cup.
Tech started off well, pressuring the Cougar defenders and creating several opportunities, but the defense held firm until the 30th minute when junior midfielder Aultain Gaye (Grand Rapids, MI/Grand Rapids Central) found the back of the net with an assist from senior Elliott Everson (Horsmonden, England/Hayesbrook).
The Warriors continued attacking and just before the half, senior Tom Pickersgill (Manchester, England/Little Lever) burst through the midfield and latched onto an Elliott Everson pass and slotted it past the Cougar keeper.
The second half was a tight affair as St. Francis pushed forward but the Warriors held firm and improved to 2-0 on the season. The Warriors will travel to Cumberland, KY to play the University of the Cumberlands on Friday, September 2nd. Kick-off is 2:00pm.
