Mark Kelly Brings In RMAC Offensive Player of the Week Accolade
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.: Senior Mark Kelly garnered his first RMAC award this season after helping RU to two big wins last week, first 4-2 over Colorado Christian, then 4-3, OT over UC-Colorado Springs.
The forward posted one goal and one assist against CCU for three points on Wednesday, before earning three goals for a big hat trick to aid the Rangers victory over UCCS on Friday.
On the week, the Antrim, N. Ireland native earned nine total points after posting four goals and one assist and owned a .571 shot on goal percentage after putting four of his seven shot attempts in between the posts. In the two games, he averaged 3.5 shots per game, 2.0 goals per game and 4.5 points per game.
So far this season, Kelly ranks nationally in many categories including points per game (5th), goals per game (T5th), total points (10th) and total goals (T11th) while tying for first in the RMAC in goals per game and total goals, second in assists per game and points per game and third in total assists and total points.
As a team the Rangers rank 11th nationally with 8.43 points per game, a 3.0 scoring offense and a 0.857 win-loss-tied percentage as well as 12th with a 2.43 assist per game ratio.
The team ranks first in the conference in assists and points per game, scoring offense, total assists, win-loss-tied percentage and second in total goals and total points.
Also performing admirably and ranking in individual categories for Regis is fellow forward Martin Maybin. He is first nationally in assists and goals per game, fourth in points per game and total assists, sixth in total points and 11th for total goals. He is first in the RMAC in assists per game, points per game, total assists, total goals, total points and sixth in goals per game.
This Fri., Oct. 11, the Rangers will take on Colorado Mesa University at 1:00 p.m. on the Regis Match Pitch in Denver, Colo.
