Men’s Team of the Week: Sept. 29-Oct. 5
It was a goal-scorer’s week in men’s Division I soccer. There were multiple hat tricks and two-goal performances in key games, which contributed to five forwards cracking the TDS Team of the Week.

TDS Player of the Week: Nick DePuy, UC Santa Barbara
TDS Team of the Week (Sept. 29 – Oct. 5):
GK Alex Bono, Syracuse – Bono continued his remarkable season with a six-save effort against Virginia Tech to record yet another shutout victory. The Orange continues their march through the ACC thanks to Bono and the Syracuse defense’s consistent play this season.
D Walker Hume, North Carolina – Hume scored his first goal of the season on Tuesday in a 4-3 loss to UNC Wilmington. He scored his second goal of the season on Friday in a 3-2 win over Clemson. Hume’s goal was the equalizer in the comeback victory for the Tar Heels. He also had an assist in the game.
D Matej Dekovic, Charlotte – The freshman from Croatia scored his first career goal in a 3-0 win over South Carolina. He was a key piece of the 49ers defense last week, which only let in one goal in two victories.
M Aaron Dennis, Villanova – The Villanova senior scored two goals and added an assist in a 4-0 win over DePaul. He also had a goal in the 3-0 win over La Salle last week for the Wildcats.
M Ray Saari, Tulsa – Saari scored the game-winner against Missouri State on Tuesday in a 1-0 victory for Tulsa. He scored two goals on Saturday, including the game-winner, in the 4-2 win over Cincinnati.
M Yianni Sarris, Ohio State – Sarris scored the game-winner against Louisville last week and then scored the second goal in Ohio State’s 3-2 win over Michigan State. It was a very successful week for the Buckeyes.
F Darius Madison, Virginia – Madison lifted Virginia to a 2-1 victory over James Madison with a goal in the last minute of regulation and then the game-winner in overtime. He also scored in the 3-0 victory over Pittsburgh.
F Khiry Shelton, Oregon State – Shelton scored a hat trick against California to lead the Beavers to a 6-2 win. The senior striker leads Oregon State this season with seven goals and 10 assists through 11 games.
F Nick DePuy, UC Santa Barbara – DePuy scored the game-winning goal against Cal State Northridge on Thursday in a 2-1 victory for the Gauchos. He followed that up with the game-winner on Saturday in a 1-0 victory over UC Irvine. DePuy has scored in three of the last four games for the Gauchos.
F Tyler Blackwood, South Florida – Blackwood scored a goal and added an assist in the Bulls’ 3-0 win over Georgia Southern. He scored a hat trick on Saturday in a 3-0 win over Temple. Blackwood scored all three of the goals in an eight-minute span in the first half.
F Darwin Jones, Washington – Jones scored twice against California to lead the Huskies to a 3-2 victory over the Bears. He followed that up with a goal against Stanford in a 3-1
