No. 13 Warhawks Blank MSOE
The No. 13 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team defeated the Milwaukee School of Engineering 4-0 at Fiskum Field in Whitewater Saturday. The Warhawks, winner of two in a row, improve to 6-1-2 while the Raiders fall to 2-6.
UW-W dominated much of the match, outshooting the visitors 21-2, including 12-1 on goal. In the first five and a half minutes, the Warhawks posted five shots.
Anna Boyd (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) put the Warhawks on the board in the 23rd minute with her fourth goal of the season. Payton DeLuga (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown) tallied the assist on the play.
The Warhawks took a 2-0 lead in the 27th minute when Mackenzie Serbousek (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Cedar Rapids Prairie) capitalized on penalty kick to record her third score of the season.
In the second half, Meghan Riordan (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) subbed into the match in the 76th minute and scored her first goal of the season three minutes later on a pass from Boyd to give the Warhawks a 3-0 advantage.
Lydia Jacobson (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) found Giana Rogala (Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) for the final goal of the match, thirty seconds before the final whistle, to give the Warhawks a 4-0 victory.
In her second start of the season, Nina Yonan (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) earned her second win after tallying one save.
The Warhawks celebrated their three seniors, Morgan Beaty (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb), Devon Polk (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) and Marie Lesperance (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) after the match.
UW-W returns to action on Wednesday when they tarvel to Decorah, Iowa for a match against Luther at 5 p.m.
