ODU zaps Jackets in OT - again
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Host Ohio Dominican knotted the score midway through the second half and netted the game winner in overtime to hand Cedarville it's first loss of the women's soccer season, 2-1.
The outcome was eerily similar to 2012 when the Panthers came to town and left with a 2-1 double overtime result that ended with just two seconds remaining.
Like last year, Jacoby Ziegler put the Lady Jackets on the board first early. She scored her second goal of the season in the 20th minute unassisted.
That was the only shot on goal that CU mustered the entire night. ODU finally leveled the match with a header in the 63rd minute. The Panthers, 1-1-1 overall, got the winner in the 97th.
Ohio Dominican outshot Cedarville 23-4 overall including a 16-1 differential after halftime. The shots on goal were 12-1.
Freshman keeper Hanna Harris was kept busy. She was credited with 10 saves after having to make just three total in the first two matches combined.
The Lady Jackets, 2-1, host Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday at 2:00.
