Panthers Extend Streak to Three
PHILIPPI, W. Va – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team extended its winning streak to three, as the Panthers brought home a 1-0 victory over Alderson Broaddus Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 3-1-1, while the Battlers fall to 0-5.
Just a little over seven minutes into the first half, junior Jordan Mazzi (Galena, Ohio) connected off a sophomore Amanda Fowler (Mansfield, Ohio) pass to score the first goal of the game. Mazzi has now scored in three straight games.
ODU had no trouble getting the offense rolling, taking 15 shots in the first half. Meanwhile, Broaddus was held to four shots by a stingy ODU defense.
The Battlers did not fare much better in the second half as the Panther defense allowed just one shot.
For the game, the Panthers dominated the net, outshooting Alderson Broaddus 29-5 and held a slight 4-3 advantage on corner kicks.
ODU kept the Battlers goal keeper busy, taking 15 shots on goal. Tayler Garcia made 14 saves on the night.
Junior goal keeper Laura Clark (Lapeer, Mich.) posted her second shutout of the season and improved her record to 3-1-1. She had two saves in goal tonight.
