Rangers Earn a Spot on NSCAA/Continental Tire National Coaches Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan.: Regis men's soccer finished out the regular season as RMAC Champions after going 12-2-1 overall and 11-2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, earning them a spot on the NSCAA/Continental Tire National Coaches Poll.
The Rangers jump onto the poll at the 23-spot after maintaining the eighth highest win-loss-tied percentage nationally.
As a team nationally, Regis ranks top 20 in seven separate categories, eight in win-loss-tied percentage, 10th in assists/game and total assists, 11th in points/game, 12th in scoring offense, 14th in total points and 18th in total goals.
The team ranks first in the conference in all the same categories, with the exception of ranking 3rd in total goals.
Senior forward Mark Kelly and junior forward Martin Maybin each rank in categories on the national and conference level.
Maybin is first in the RMAC in assists per game (0.56) and total assists (9), and second in the RMAC in goals per game (1.00), points per game (2.56), total goals (16) and total points (41). He ranks seventh in the nation with goals per game, points per game and total goals, fifth in total points, 10th in total assists and 14th in assists per game.
Kelly ranks third across the board in the RMAC in all the same categories and top 25 nationally in assists per game (.50), goals per game (.81), points per game (2.13), total assists (8), total goals (13) and total points (34).
Freshman Connor Adkisson has had a breakout year for Regis in the net as well. He ranks first in the RMAC with a .813 save percentage, third with a 0.94 goals against average and fifth with 3.90 saves per game while ranking nationally in all the same categories. He also earned back-to-back RMAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades the past two weeks.
Regis will host the RMAC Tournament starting Fri., Nov. 8. The Rangers will take on the winner of Wednesday's match between #4 Metro State and #5 Fort Lewis at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Regis Match Pitch.
