HANOVER, IND. – Sophomore midfielder Jessica Sanchez (Fort Wayne, Ind.), senior defender/midfielder Ellyn Sallee (Bloomington, Ind.) and senior forward Katelyn Barta (Griffith, Ind.) each leveled shot-on-goal attempts at Hanover College’s net Saturday, Oct. 4, leading Manchester University’s offense in the wake of a 4-1 defeat.

While Barta and Sallee’s attempts were knocked away by Panther goalkeeper Karlee Vandeweele, Sanchez’s try in the 81^st minute got into the back of the net. Freshman defender Alyssa Cox (De Motte, Ind.) found Sanchez in the box for an assist off a corner kick.

Hanover (9-3 overall, 3-0 HCAC) got its offense going quickly, scoring a pair of goals in the opening 25 minutes. Senior goalkeeper Emily Willmann (Montpelier, Ind.) kept the hosts off the board from that point until a 76^th minute tally gave them a commanding 3-0 lead.

MU (5-7, 2-1 HCAC) returns to conference play Tuesday, Oct. 14, traveling to Bluffton University of Ohio. Kickoff is 3:30 p.m.

NOTES: Sanchez became the ninth Black and Gold player to notch a goal this season … Cox’s assist marked her first collegiate point.
