In a classic defensive struggle on the pitch in Sioux Falls, S.D., the St. Cloud State soccer team charged to a 1-0 victory over host Augustana College on Sept. 30.

The victory was important for the Huskies as it moved their record to 5-4-1, 4-3 NSIC, while Augustana moved to 4-4-2, 3-2-2 NSIC.  The victory also allowed SCSU to stay tied for fifth place in the always rugged NSIC along with Minot State and U-Mary.

Both of those NSIC rivals will be in town next week for games at Husky Stadium.  Minot State will be playing at SCSU on Oct. 6 at 1 p.m.  To complete the NSIC weekend, SCSU will host U-Mary on Oct. 7 at 1 p.m.

ALUMNI DAY/PARENTS' & GRADE SCHOOL DAY
The SCSU game on Oct. 6 vs. Minot State has been designated as Husky Soccer Alumni Day.  All former SCSU soccer players are encouraged to come out for this game.  The game on Oct. 7 has been designated as SCSU Soccer Parents' Day and it will also be Grade School Day at Husky Stadium.

At Augustana, senior Mary Morhardt posted the game winner at 1:03 of the game.  This was Morhardt's first goal of the season and the assist was notched by senior Laura Moline - her second assist of the season.

Moline took a throw in and placed a perfect cross pass to Morhardt, who finished with a goal in the bottom left corner of the net.

In the nets, junior Kenzie Hanzlik nabbed four saves on the way to her first shutout of the 2012 season.  This was Hanzlik's 11th career shutout as a Husky.  Amanda Wagner had two saves in the loss for Augie.

Overall, the Huskies dominated the contest by outshooting the Vikings 14-6.
