SCSU Soccer Takes Down Bearcats Friday, 2-1
St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University women's soccer team kicked off their first home stand Friday night playing host to Northwest Missouri State University. The Huskies came out with the win taking down the Bearcats 2-1.
The Huskies came out looking to start their home stand off with a win as sophomore Gabby Fleck got around the Bearcats goalie to shoot from about 16 yards out taking a 1-0 lead at the 5:04 mark of the game. With the goal Fleck was charted with her first of the season and was assisted by juniors Taige Thoreson and Kara Espinosa.
Northwest Missouri came back though tying the game up at the 8:41 mark as Anna Calgaard put one past SCSU's goalie Brittany Plombon.
St. Cloud State was not done yet as they came out in the second half scoring just minutes into the half as sophomores Bailly Drayton and Naomi Kolhoff connected to take a 2-1 lead over the Bearcats. This was Kolhoff's first goal as a Husky.
Earning the win for the Huskies was Brittany Plombon as she recorded seven saves, while the Bearcats' Kelsey Adams posted four saves. Plombon moves her record to 3-0 on the season.
St. Cloud State (3-0) will be back in action Sunday, September 15 as they kick off NSIC play against Minnesota Duluth in the comforts of Husky Stadium. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
