On Sunday, Ariela Lewis scored twice including the game-winner as the Lady Hornets defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 2-1 to claim the school's first SWAC soccer championship.
ASU (11-9-1) had positioned themselves into the title match in three of the four previous seasons (2013 and 2015), but 2016 proved to be their year.
The Lady Hornets caught fire in the second half of the season and ran their unbeaten streak to 10 consecutive matches (9-0-1) dating back to Oct. 7.
It knocked off No. 6 Jackson State 1-0 on Thursday, followed with a 2-1 win against No. 2 Texas Southern on Friday and upended No. 4 UAPB on Sunday to be crowed championships.
The Lady Hornets will await Monday's NCAA Tournament selection show. It will be announced on NCAA.org at 3:30 p.m. CT to find out which opponent they'll draw along with the date and time.
It will either be this Friday, Saturday or Sunday depending upon how the bracket shapes up.
