Trine Shutout for Second Time
HANOVER, Ind. - For the second time in as many days, the Trine University women’s soccer team was shut out as they fell to Hanover 3-0. The loss drops the Thunder to 1-2-1 on the year.
Despite being out-shot 12-2 in the first half, the Thunder trailed by just one goal at the half as the Panthers took the lead just before the break as Rachel Alvis scored off a rebound in the 39th minute.
The Panthers would score again in the 51st minute before tallying their final goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 70th minute.
Trine’s only shot on goal came in the 79th minute as freshman Lindsay Hoffman’s (Millbury, Ohio/Lake) shot was saved by the Hanover keeper.
Freshman goalie Sloan Davis (Olivet, Mich./Olivet) made six stops on the afternoon, three in each half for the Thunder.
Hoffman and sophomore Amy Williams (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Northrop) led the Thunder with two shot attempts for the day.
For the match, the Panthers out-shot Trine 27-7.
The Thunder will begin conference play on September 13 when they travel to Calvin for a 4:00 p.m. game.
