Tulsa Captures 1-0 Win Over Cincinnati
Gilles Kuhler scored the game-winning goal at the 74:03 mark to give Tulsa a 1-0 win over Cincinnati on Saturday night at Gettler Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Golden Hurricane moved to 4-7-2 on the season and 1-3 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Bearcats fell to 3-9-1 overall and 1-3 in league play.
“It was good getting the win, obviously,” Head Coach Tom McIntosh said.” “The guys concentration level was very good, and it has been through most games, but defensively we were very good and didn’t give up many chances. We were pretty patient in terms of possession, which was good to see. We controlled large stretches of the game, and did a good job of nullifying their counter attack. A lot of guys did their jobs so overall I was pleased with the performance and really happy for the guys to get a win under their belts and change their fortune. Bryson came up with a great save to end the game and now we have to get ourselves ready for the next one.”
Kuhler scored his goal his fourth goal of the season off a cross from Alex Harris.
Tulsa had a 14-8 lead in shots, including a 5-3 edge in shots on goal, and a 7-2 lead in corner kicks.
Kuhler had a team-best five shots, while Harris, Chase Bromstedt, Miguel Velasquez and Austen Schweinert each had two attempts. Bryson Reed logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up three saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, October 20 as TU hosts Memphis beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
