Tulsa Captures 1-0 Win Over UCF
Tulsa men’s soccer freshman Lesley Nchanji scored his first collegiate goal in a 1-0 win over UCF on Saturday afternoon at the UCF Soccer Complex in Orlando, Fla. TU moved to 5-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Knights fell to 4-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the league.
“The guys were really well disciplined today,” Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. “They handled the difficult conditions of the heat and the quick turnaround well, and possessed the ball well today. The goal was a nice combination and from there on we managed the game better than we have this season.”
Nchanji’s goal came at the 12:00 mark as he slotted the ball past the keeper off a pass from Ray Saari.
Aymar Sigue had a team-best three shots, while Nchanji, Saari and Zach Jackson each had two attempts. Marcel Da Silva logged all 90 minutes in goal, picked up seven saves and earned his first career shutout and the first for TU this season.
Both teams had 14 shots, including seven on goal, while the Golden Hurricane took all four corner kicks.
Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, October 17 against Temple. Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
