Three Tulsa men’s soccer players each scored a goal to give the Golden Hurricane a 3-0 win over SMU on Saturday night at Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas.  TU moved to 4-2-2 on the season and 1-0 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Mustangs fell to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the league.

 

Ray Saari put TU on the board with just 3:53 ticked off the clock as he picked up a pass from Vincent Pedace and made a left-footed shot.  Rollie Rocha made it 2-0 as he drilled in pass from Jacob Gooden in the 27^th minute, and then Kay Duit added another score for the Golden Hurricane in the 38^th minute as he went one-on-one with the keeper and drilled in a shot from 12 yards out off a pass from Alejandro Chavez.

 

At halftime there was inclement weather in the Dallas area, forcing an approximate two-hour lightening delay. 

 

In the second frame, neither team found the back of the net as TU picked up the 3-0 victory. 

 

Tulsa had a 19-8 lead in shots, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal, and took all five corner kicks.

 

Matthew Puig had a team-best four shots, while Chavez, Duit, Munashe Raranje and Lesley Nchanji all had two attempts.  Jake McGuire logged all 90 minutes between the posts and picked up three saves and a shutout.

 

Tulsa will return to action on Tuesday, September 27 against Missouri State.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
