HS: Fall FAB 50 rankings, Nov. 13
It doesn't get much more dominant than the three teams atop of the girls Fall FAB 50 this season.
No. 1 Portland Jesuit (Portland, Ore.), No. 2 St. Anthony's (Melville, N.Y.) and No. 3 Beavercreek (Ohio) -- all stacked with NCAA Division I-bound players -- combined for a 60-0-0 record.
Jesuit outscored its opponents 128-1 and won the state final 8-0 over the state's No. 2-ranked team. Beavercreek outscored its opponents 140-6 and St. Anthony's scored five or more goals in all but six matches this season.
All three won state titles last week to secure the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 spots, respectively, for the 2018 fall season. For Portland Jesuit, it marks a second FAB 50 national title, joining the 2009 squad that also posted a perfect record.
Throughout this week's rankings, both boys and girls, there were plenty of major moves as upsets dotted the playoff landscape. In many cases, the "newcomers" to this week's rankings are merely teams that were ranked, fell out during postseason losses and have crept back into the FAB 50 as other teams have failed to hold their spots. Other teams made major jumps, usually based on one of two reasons -- big playoff wins that justify the moves or still undefeated entering this week's final contests and deserve the opportunity to earn a high ranking.
While most of the fall-playing states are finished, only the Top 5 boys and Top 4 girls spots are locked up. This weekend's results will sort of the rest of the rankings. In fact, it is possible any team ranked No. 26-30, for example, could inch their way into the Top 25 for the final ranking.
