HS: Spring SIMA FAB 50, Feb. 8
Tulsa Union (Tulsa, Okla.) starts the spring high school girls soccer season right where it left off in 2016 -- at No. 1. Meanwhile, a loaded Langley (Va.) tops the charts for the boys as we kick off the SIMA FAB 50 sring rankings.
The preseason rankings are released each year in early February in time for the start of the Georgia high school season. The will be no updates until March 7, and at that point, the spring rankings will be updated each week for the balance of the season.
The SIMA FAB 50 preseason rankings are based on reasonable expectations for the listed teams entering the 2017 spring season. Information for the preseason rankings was collected in January and February, long before the high schools started in most states, therefore might become outdated. Players may leave or return to the high school scene, drastically changing a team's outlook. In any case, once games start to be played, the results will replace the hype.
Tulsa Union is bidding to become the first program to win three straight SIMA FAB 50 girls titles. Led by Youth National Team performer Parker Goins and five other NCAA Division I signees, Union is a clear favorite in Oklahoma. Union is riding a 36-match win streak.
Collinsville (Ill.), St. Thomas Aquinas (Overland Park, Kan.), St. Joseph's Academy (St. Louis, Mo.) and Naperville North (Naperville, Ill.) round out the Top 5.
On the boys side, Langley gets the nod over Wando (Mount Pleasant, S.C.), McCallie School (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Oak Mountain (Birmingham, Ala.) and Creighton Prep (Omaha, Neb.) round out the Top 5.
