HS: State, Region rankings, Aug. 29
Regular season play has started in 11 of the 14 fall-playing regions, and there was only one change at No. 1 this week as Evanston (Ill.) took over the top spot in the boys Mid-East region.
The seven region No. 1 teams for fall-playing girls soccer are Whitman-Hanson (Mass.) in the Northeast, Northern Highlands (N.J.) in N.J./N.Y., McDonogh School (Md.) in the Mid-Atlantic, Walsh Jesuit (Ohio) in Ohio, Penn (Ind.) in the Mid-East, Issaquah (Wash.) in the Northwest and Davis (Utah) in the West.
The seven region No. 1 teams for fall-playing boys soccer remain La Salle Academy (R.I.) in the Northeast, St. Benedict's Prep (N.J.) in the East, McDonogh School (Md.) in the Mid-Atlantic, St. Ignatius (Ohio) in the Great Lakes, Evanston (Ill.) in the Mid-East, Rockhurst Jesuit (Mo.) in the Midwest and Albuquerque Academy (N.M.) in the West.
This week's new No. 1 state teams Eagan (Minn.), Notre Dame Academy (Ky.) and Spring Valley (W.Va.) in girls soccer and Blue Valley Northwest (Kan.), Evanston (Ill.), Gonzaga (D.C.), Washburn (Minn.) and Mountain View (Idaho).

TAKE NOTICE: A couple preseason favorites won four-team mixer events last week, securing their current lofty state rankings -- with St. Ignatius (Ohio) boys defeating St. Xavier (Ohio) for the Jesuit Cup title in Ohio and Bishop Miege (Kan.) claiming the Catholic Cup title in Kansas. ... Eleven teams in the TopDrawerSoccer Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio state rankings will be part of this week's Lady Eagle Invitational in Zionsville, Ind. The two-day showcase event will help sort of the girls Mid-East rankings as well as play a major role in shaping the SIMA FAB 50.
