LEAD STORY:
Exactly who scored the final high school goal of the 2015-16 school year might remain a debate for years, but it no doubt put an end to one wild high school season.
Emily Crevoiserat curled a corner kick toward the goal and Amanda Durst put a touch on it -- the lone goal as Divine Savior-Holy Angels (Milwaukee, Wis.) edged Madison West (Madison, Wis.) 1-0 in the Wisconsin Division 1 state final played Saturday night, the last high school game of the school year. The official scorekeeper creditted Durst with the goal. A video review seemed to confirm Crevoiserat's corner kick was already across the goal line before Durst touched it. Even Durst was unsure, telling the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "I think the ball was across the line already. But I just held it there long enough to make sure they gave us the goal."
The win gave DHSA its fourth state title since 2008 and capped a bizarre season for the Dashers. DSHA, TopDrawerSoccer's preseason No. 1 team in Wisconsin, went 17-0-3 against Wisconsin opponents to justify the team's final state No. 1 ranking. However, the Dashers were 0-6 against out-of-state opponents, a fact that will keep them out of the SIMA FAB 50.
The following teams ended the spring season as the TopDrawerSoccer Region No. 1 teams:
