HS: Winter SIMA FAB 50, Feb. 14

A tie by Southlake Carroll (Southlake, Texas) allows another fellow DFW power, Coppell (Texas), to inherit the SIMA FAB 50 winter girls No. 1 ranking this week.

Carroll, which drops to No. 3, remains solidly in the national title chase. Coppell and Southlake Carroll, along with a number of other SIMA FAB 50 Texas teams, are in Class 6A and will settle the issue on the field in April. The wild card in the mix is 5A Highland Park (Texas), which remains No. 2. Highland Park has been the 6A runner-up the past two seasons before moving back down in classification this year with a loaded lineup.

On the boys side, there was quite a bit of movement as teams jockey for order in time for the big postseason push in Florida, Louisiana and California. Hawaii's state champs were crowned Monday night. Arizona and Mississippi have completed their seasons.

BIG MOVERS: BOYS: Coronado (Calif.). Coronado jumped from No. 46 to No. 27 this week, the largest move among the ranked teams. ... GIRLS: Quartz Hill (Calif.). Quartz Hill moves from No. 47 to No. 33 this week, the largest jump aming the ranked teams. Quartz Hill is still undefeated, although its tie was actually a shootout loss.
