HS: Winter, Spring FAB 50 rankings, Feb. 19
While Houston-area programs [Episcopal tx-m] (Bellaire, Texas) boys and Tompkins (Katy, Texas) girls remain in the No. 1 spots, there was a lot of movement in both rankings this week.
The section playoffs in California lead to a reordering of several boys teams. Meanwhile the girls teams are lined up in a wild chase for No. 1 that will include two head-to-head matchups this week: FAB 50 No. 3 JSerra (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) vs. No. 6 Los Alamitos (Calif.) and No. 4 Archbishop McCarthy (Southwest Ranches, Fla.) vs. No. 5 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.). JSerra and Los Alamitos will battle for the CIF Southern Section Division 1 title, and perhaps a chance at a rematch in the regionals. In Florida, the McCarthy-Montverde meeting will settle the state's 4A state title.
Now, on with the rankings ...
WINTER RANKINGS
BIG MOVERS: BOYS: Brophy Prep (Phoenix Ariz.). Arizona preseason favorite Brophy Prep jumps back into the Top 25 this week, checking in at No. 20, in time for its state final showdown with Hamilton this week. ... GIRLS: Perry (Gilbert, Ariz.). Perry carries a 25-match undefeated streak into the state final, and a title likely will net the program a Top 10 finish

SPRING RANKINGS
While the Spring FAB 50 preseason rankings were previously released, this is the first major push for the season. Wando (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) starts the season No. 1 in the boys rankings, while Barrington (Ill.) tops the girls rankings.
Holding the No. 1 spots will not be easy for either program.
Wando lost several key players from last year's undefeated national championship-winning team. It might seem a bit unfair to saddle this year's team with previous seson's success, but given a couple all-star returnees, Wando makes a strong enough case to start the year in the top spot. Barrington, meanwhile, lost its top player to injury for the season, but that figures to be a minor bump in the road for this talet-laden program.
It should be noted, the preseason rankings were released Feb. 4 and do not reflect any early season matches already played. The first of the weekly rankings will appear March 4.
