Just because the seasons are finished in five of the seven winter-playing states, it does not mean those teams' current rankings is final.

In fact, the girls No. 1 team might not be determined until April.

But one thing is for certain, one of the current Top 4 teams will finish in the No. 1 spot. Tompkins (Texas) remains No. 1, followed by California powerhouses JSerra and Davis. If those teams falter, current No. 4 Montverde Academy (Fla.) will be in position to add a girls FAB 50 title to its stockpile of boys national crowns.

On the boys side, three teams have secured final Top 10 rankings -- Houston Episcopal (Texas), Montverde Academy (Fla.) and St. Paul's (La.). St. Paul's defeated rival New Orleans Jesuit (La.) 3-0 in the state final over the weekend. St. Paul's final ranking won't be determined until after the California teams finished regional play this week.

BIG MOVERS: BOYS: Jesuit (Carmichael, Calif.). Jesuit, a former fall-season national power, jumped from No. 36 to No. 24 this week following a section title win over Turlock. ... GIRLS: Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.). Archbishop Mitty spent time in the Top 10 this season, before falling in the rankings. This week, Mitty checks in at No. 18, a 25-spot jump, following its section title victory coupled with a slew of upsets. 

NEWCOMERS: BOYS: No. 43 Lake Highland Prep (Orlando, Fla.), No. 44 Chaparral (Scottsdale, Ariz.), No. 46 Lake Mary (Fla.), No. 47 Long Beach Cabrillo (Long Beach, Calif.), No. 49 JJ Pearce (Richardson, Texas), No. 50 [Birmingham Community Charter ca-m] (Van Nuys, Calif.). ... GIRLS: No. 24 Chaparral (Scottsdale, Ariz.), No. 35 Montgomery (Santa Rosa, Calif.), No. 39 San Luis Obispo (San Luis Obispo, Calif.), No. 44 Allen (Texas), No. 45 Marcus (Flower Mound, Texas), No. 46 Frisco Independence (Frisco, Texas), No. 50 Lake Mary (Fla.).

SPRING RANKINGS

The Spring preseason rankings were released Feb. 4 and do not reflect any early season matches already played. Wando (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) starts the season No. 1 in the boys rankings, while Barrington (Ill.) tops the girls rankings.

The first of the weekly state, region and FAB 50 spring rankings will start next week.
