HS: Winter, Spring region rankings, April 6
No. 1 changed hands in three girls and two boys spring-playing states, while the Texas winter No. 1s held up in this week's rankings.
Rivera (Brownsville, Texas) boys and Coppell (Coppell, Texas) girls continued their undefeated seasons through another week of winter postseason play to remain the top-ranked Texas teams.
In the spring season, teams are finally getting enough games played to sort out the contenders from the pretenders.
The most noteworthy No. 1 change this week takes place in South Carolina where former state No. 3 River Bluff (Lexington, S.C.) toppled top-ranked Wando (Mount Pleasant, S.C.). The teams have split their meetings, and River Bluff jumps into the state's top ranking this week, which means there will be a change in the SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 position as well, since Wando held that spot. The FAB 50 is released Tuesday morning. The other change at No. 1 took place in Alaska, where South Anchorage (Anchorage, Alaska) routed Colony (Palmer, Alaska) to inherit the top spot.
Blue Valley Northwest (Overland Park, Kan.), Millard West (Omaha, Neb.) and St. Joseph's Academy (St. Louis, Mo.) are the new girls state No. 1s this week.
