SIMA FAB 50: LEE set for showdown with CC

By the end of this week, every winter-playing state will have entered the league stage of their schedules.

But until then, there are some potential ranking-altering matches ahead.

This week's showcase match is SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 San Antonio LEE (Texas) taking on No. 19 Central Catholic (San Antonio, Texas) on Tuesday in boys soccer. This outcome could have significant impact on future rankings as it a rare meeting between a Texas public school power and the defending TAPPS (private schools) champion.

It was an otherwise quiet weekend for the top teams in the rankings. The top eight boys remain unchanged, while nine of the girls Top 10 teams already were ranked 11 or better entering the week.

BIG MOVERS: BOYS: Seven Lakes (Katy, Texas). Seven Lakes capped its weekend with a 6-2 win over former SIMA FAB 50-ranked Coppell. The margin over victory justified Seven Lakes jumping from No. 24 to No. 9, ahead of Bellarmine Prep (Calif.), which managed a 2-1 overtime win over Coppell. ... GIRLS: Flower Mound (Texas). Flower Mound moved up three spots from No. 11 to No. 8 marking the largest upward move by ranked teams this week.

NEWCOMERS: BOYS: No. 16 Duncanville (Texas), No. 27 Vintage (Napa, Calif.), No. 28 San Ramon Valley (Danville, Calif.), Noo. 37 Reagan (Doral, Fla.), No. 41 St. Francis-Mountain View (Mountain View, Calif.), o. 47 Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, Calif.), No. 49 Gulf Breeze (Fla.) and No. 50 Houston Episcopal (Bellaire, Texas). ...
