SIMA FAB 50: New Texas teams inherit No. 1s

The baton has been passed, but Texas teams remain atop both SIMA FAB 50 rankings this week.

Alief Elsik (Texas) boys move from No. 2 to No. 1 followed a tie by last week's top-ranked team, San Antonio LEE) (Texas), which settles in at No. 3. The girls rankings underwent a game of leapfrog this week. Tompkins (Texas) moves from No. 4 to No. 1 with Upland (Calif.) sliding into the No. 2 spot. Both teams -- with a combined 28 shutouts in 30 matches this season -- need to retain their perfect records to stay in the top two spots. Meanwhile, last week's No. 1 Coppell (Texas) settles in at No. 3, a move that pushed Montverde Academy (Fla.) down to No. 4.

Throughout the girls Top 25, several teams were repositioned to honor the onfield results, which includes Marcus (Texas) and [St. Agnes tx-w] (Texas) taking slight steps back to make way for Prosper (Texas) and Byron Nelson (Texas), a pair of teams whose results justified a jump into the Top 10 this week.

Now, on with the rankings ...

BIG MOVERS: BOYS: Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, Calif). This undefeated team jumped from No 42 to No. 26 this week with a pair of wins. Another strong week could put this squad in the Top 25, making Cathedral Catholic one of the few schools with boys and girls teams in the Top 25s. ... GIRLS: Prosper (Texas). Prosper jumped another 10 spots this week to check in at No. 8. This team's quick rise has a lot to do with an early win over Hebron, who has in term defeated Marcus, which beat St. Agnes -- all Top 25 teams.

NEWCOMERS: BOYS: No. 42 Lewisville (Texas), No. 44 Kingwood Park (Houston, Texas), No. 46 Irving (Texas), No. 47 Cinco Ranch (Katy, Texas), No. 48 Seven Lakes (Katy, Texas), No. 49 Madison Central (Madison, Miss.) and Pharr Valley View (Pharr, Texas). ... GIRLS: No. 36 Claremont (Calif.), No. 38 St. Ignatius (San Francisco, Calif.) and No. 50 Lake Travis (Austin, Texas).
